First off, I am not a fan of alcohol. I don’t like to be around it. I don’t even like the smell of it. I have a lot of life traumas when it comes to alcohol and I don’t like to visit those memories.
With that being said, when I heard about BrewPastors, saw the social media posts, and heard that it was a bible study, I instantly thought, “Really?? Bible study at a brewery, drinking, bars, lots of people, I just don’t think that’s a good idea, and are they really studying the bible, I just don’t think that’s right!” Pretty judgmental I must say, and believe me, I had the judgmental attitude to go along with it! Truly, I was dead set against it.
Well, fast forward, Megan leads this group, and I LOVE Megan and always have! I saw her announcement about a new group starting that was ladies only. I like a good bible study, and love to meet new people, but I get anxious in groups. I was looking for a regular bible study that I would be able to attend. I thought, you know what, I should check this out and put my own ideas aside and see what this is really all about!
I have to say, I was pretty nervous and assumed it would not be for me, but when I walked in, got a hug and smile from Megan… I was put at ease right away. Then, after hearing the story of how BrewPastors came about, and the ‘why’ of it being at breweries, I was happy to keep coming back. The women, the stories, the studies, the friendships, the spirit, and most of all the trust and support of this group is like no other! Don’t be afraid to visit a group—you WILL fit in, you WILL feel the presence of God, and you WILL grow in your faith and in the midst of all that, you WILL make some new friends!
For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. Matthew 18:20
